STEP PROGRAM FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Support Program for Training and Employment of Women (STEP) Training and Assistance to Employment Program (STEP) The objective of the program is to provide women with employable skills and competencies to enable them to become self-employed or become entrepreneurs. STEP scheme was started in the year 1986-87 which provides updated skills and new information in 10 traditional areas. Assistance under STEP scheme will be available in any sector for providing employment and entrepreneurship related skills including Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing, Handloom, Sewing, Embroidery, Zarikari etc. Handicrafts, Computers, IT enabled Services and Soft Skills for the workplace. . and skills such as speaking English, gems and gems, travel and tourism, hospitality includingbut not limited to. The assistance has been further expanded as per the revised guidelines of STEP Scheme-2014. STEP scheme is being implemented as per the guidelines framed by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. While other sector specific ministries and state governments have their own skill development programmes, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, being the nodal ministry for women related issues, launched the STEP scheme to provide employable skills to women.
