Relationship Between India And ASEAN
ASEAN is a regional inter-governmental organization of ten South-East Asian nations (Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam,Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines)that seeks to promote economic development,territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence, and regional peace among themselves. , work to maintain regional stability.
Brief description of relations with India Significant progress in multilateral relations between India and ASEAN began after economic liberalization (1991). Relations between ASEAN countries and India have been strengthened under the 'Act East Policy'.India became a 'Regional Partner' of ASEAN in 1992, a 'Dialogue Partner' in1996 and a Summit Partner in 2002.
Political and Security Cooperation:There have been dialogues between India and the ASEAN nations in various political for a to meet various political challenges. Among these, the 'Plan of Action'-2012, a long-term roadmap for enhancing peace, cooperation and shared prosperity between India-ASEAN,has been signed.
• Commitment to cooperation on issues like combating violence, terrorism financing,human trafficking and trafficking etc. has been expressed. The 'ASEAN Regional Forum(A.R.F. 1996)' has been set up for ASEAN security dialogue.
• For the peace, development and prosperity of the 'Indo-Pacific' region, India and ASEAN nations have also expressed their commitment to agreement and cooperation on many issues.Also actively engaged with various regional for a, such as BIMSTEC, Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

• Strategic Cooperation: Cooperation between India and ASEAN has increased on various issues including the creation of Andaman and Nicobar Tri-Service Command, organizing ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meetings(ADMM+10). Also, to enhance maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, relevant standards have been adopted by the existing UNCLOS, IMO.Implementation and cooperation between India-ASEAN on 'Cyber Security Capacity Building' has increased.
• Connectivity cooperation: There has beena steady increase in connectivity on both sides with the implementation of the 'India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway' and the 6 Kaladan Multimodal Project, the India-Thailand Motor Vehicle Agreement being implemented. In addition, a commitment has been made to enhance connectivity in line with the 'MasterPlan' 'On ASEAN Connectivity-2025'and 'ASEAN ICT Master Plan-2020' to enhance physical and digital connectivity. Along with this,discussions are also going on to increase the corridors of air and sea connectivity.
• Other collaborations: India-ASEAN Green Fund,Initiatives like creation of India Science and Technology Fund etc. and'Delhi Samvad' have been taken. In the Delhi Dialogue, political, security and economic issues are discussed, such as the end of terrorism, regional comprehensive economic partnership, sustainable development,connectivity, fair and sustainable use of marine resources.
