Sukanya Yojana To make the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' campaign a success, the Prime Minister on 22 January 2015 launched the 'Sukanya Samridhi Yojana'. This is a small savings scheme (Small Saving Scheme) which It has been prepared keeping in mind the need of expenditure on higher education and marriage. To take advantage of this scheme, one has to open a 'Sukanya Samriddhi Account' by visiting the post office or the authorized branch of the notified bank. Any parent can open an account for his daughter up to 10 years of age under this scheme. The interest rate of 9.1 percent was announced by the government on the deposits this scheme, which was increased to 9.2 percent. Under this scheme, accounts of more than two daughters of the family cannot be opened. will be operated by the parents or other guardians till the daughter attains the age of ten years. After this the girl child can operate her own account. The special thing is that this account can be transferred anywhere in the country. Sukanya Samriddhi Account will mature when the girl child attains the age of 21 years. However, when the daughter turns 18, out of the total amount deposited in this account, 50 percent can be with drawn for her higher education or marriage.
