Reduction in red corridor area The total number of LWE affected districts in 2015 was 106. This had increased to 126 in the year 2017. All expenditure on the affected areas is covered under the Security Related Expenditure(SRE) scheme of the Ministry of Home Affairs. In its recent review, the Ministry of Home Affairs clarified that out of 126 districts affected by LWE violence, 44 have not reported any violence, due to which they have been removed from this list. While 8 such new districts have been added under SRE.Presently the number of districts most affected by Naxalism is 30, which is 90% of the LWE violence spread in the country. Apart from this, there is also information that Maoists are trying to infiltrate into Assam and Arunachal Pradesh as well.
