Inter-State Water Dispute
How to tackle this problem
To make every effort to increase the depleting water level of rivers so that full availability of water can be made possible in all the states from the point of origin of rivers to the down stream area and any state should not have the river water going to its neighbouring state or the dam-electricity.
Do not cause problems or water with projects.More than half of the river water is used for irrigation. Therefore, instead of the traditional methods of irrigation through tube wells, emphasis should be laid on the use of irrigation techniques like drip irrigation, fountain irrigation or water injection.
Israel has developed drip irrigation as well as technologies for recycling waste water and removing salt from seawater. We need to make use of that technology by importing it.
Instead of enticing people with 'nationalization' and 'privatization' of water, the government should inculcate a sense of belonging towards nature in their hearts so that they can take steps to conserve, save and save water while avoiding over-exploitation and pollution. Increase.
At the policy level, various provisions of the Central Water Commission and the National Water Policy(2012) have neither reached the common man properly nor have been linked to the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act.
Therefore, in this context, the government should make every effort to run awareness campaigns in schools and colleges. Also, help should be taken from it in settling river water disputes.
A view also comes to the fore that the government should firmly start the 'river linking project', which is lying in cold storage. Although it also raises questions about environmental security, but if the larger interests are taken into account, it will increase the availability of water in all rivers and most of the Himalayan and peninsular rivers.
