Discuss the possible threats of cyber attacks and the security framework to prevent them
India has witnessed rapid digitization phase in recent times, as a result of which most services are becoming digital, which also makes the Indian digital system more vulnerable to cyber attacks. According to FICCI, cyber in security is the biggest threat to the industry in resent era cyber attack
The following are the possible dangers of digital transactions:
- Due to the promotion of digital transactions, even people unaware of cyber security have started doing digital transactions. In such a situation, they are afraid of theft of important information and savings.Important infrastructure systems now a days.
- For example, control of city transport, electricity grid operation etc. is also done through digital system. Due to disruption in their operation by cyber attack, life can be badly affected.
- Cyber attacks can cause widespread damage to the economy by sabotaging the operations of business units or by exposing critical information.
- Cyber attacks can damage India's national identity and security by exposing information related to national security.Keeping in view the need for cyber security,the Government of India formulated the National Cyber Security Policy, 2013 which aims to create a secure cyber space for citizens,business and government.
- CERT-In Electronics & Information Technology is an organization under the Ministry of Cyber
- Deals with security related threats. It strengthens the security-related defense of the Indian Internet sector.
- The National Center for Cyber Cooperation(NCCC) is an important component of the Indian cyber security system, which works to identify and prevent hacking, espionage and online terrorist activities.
- The National Technical Research Organization(NTRO) collects information related to security in cyberspace and prepares strategies to deal with them.
