District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA)
In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 4 of the Diaster Manegement Act, every State Government shall establish for every district in the State a District Disaster Management Authority,to be such as may be specified in the notification. The DDMA will be headed by the District Collector, Deputy Commissioner or District Magistrate, as the case may be. In which the elected representative of the local authority will be the co-chair. The State Government shall appoint an officer of the district not less than the level of Additional Collector or Additional District Magistrate or Additional Deputy Commissioner, as the case may be, as the Chief Executive Officer of the District Authority. DDMA will act as the planning coordination and implementation body for DM at the district level and will take all necessary measures for the purpose of DM as per the guidelines laid down by NDMA and SDM. It will prepare the DM plan for the district and oversee the implementation of all relevant national state and district policies and plans. DDMA will also ensure that the guidelines regarding mitigation preparedness and quick action measures laid down by NDMA and SDA are followed by all the district level offices of various departments of the State Government.
