Genetic Engineering
Gene engineering is actually a technique in which the genes controlling that particular trait or traits are artificially changed with the aim of bringing about desired improvement in a particular trait or traits of an organism. Therefore a particular DNA Sections or specific genes or genes are isolated and implanted into new organisms, such as transfer of a gene or genes from a bacterium to a human or in plants, animals or vice versa. This results in a completely new type of recombination of genes, or in other words, recombinant DNA. (Recombinant DNA) is formed.
An important and direct advantage of gene engineering is that with its help incurable and genetic diseases can be solved.Through this development of more productive and useful breeds of animals is also possible. Gene engineering is being used mainly in the manufacture of vaccines for AIDS, diseases, malaria, hemophilia and other deadly diseases etc.
