Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action-JCPOA"
IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL
It is to be noted that this agreement is also known as "Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action-JCPOA". This historic agreement was signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015 between Iran, P5+1 countries (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - the US, China, France, the United Kingdom, Russia and Germany) and the European Union. Had gone. The US has given the following reasons for withdrawing from this agreement
According to the Trump administration, this agreement has not effectively stopped Iran's nuclear weapons program and this agreement will focus on Iran's nuclear program activities after the year 2025. does not do.
According to the US administration, Iran's ballistic missile program has not been taken into account in this agreement.
The deal also does not cover issues related to Iran's role in the ongoing conflict in Yemen and Syria. In such a situation, this agreement is not capable of establishing peace in West Asia.
However, strategic experts believe that America's real concern is the power imbalance in West Asia due to Iran's re integration into the mainstream of the global economy.
Israel and Saudi Arabia are counted as one of America's closest strategic allies in West Asia. Iran's diplomatic relations with both these countries have been bitter. While Saudi Arabia and Iran are indirectly involved in the on going conflict in Yemen and Syria, on the other hand Iran's support to Hezbollah and other terrorist groups in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Lebanon and Syria is for Israel. There is a constant danger.
More recently, tensions between Israel and Iran reacheda peak when rockets were allegedly fired at Israeli military installations in the Golan Heights hills, occupied by Israel, from Iranian military bases in Syria. In response, Israel also attacked Syria with missiles. Israel has made it clear that it will not tolerate Iran's military presence on its northern border. In such a situation, the possibility of turning into a conflict between Israel and Iran has increased.
Clearly, Iran's rise in the Middle East as a regional power threatens the strategic interests of the US, Saudi Arabia and Israel. In such a situation, America does not want to go ahead with the nuclear deal with Iran to keep the balance of power in its favor in West Asia.
The effects of America's exit from the agreement
This US decision has created a new crisis in an already volatile region. How ever, China, France, Russia, the UK, Germany and the European Union have supported the agreement.
These countries have described the agreement as an important step towards establishing peace in West Asia. But it remains to be seen whether Europe and other major powers will remain together in support of the agreement or will dis integrate under US pressure. If these powers also with draw from the agreement in the coming time, then its consequences will prove to be very fatal for West Asia.
Iran has reacted cautiously to this decision of America, saying that it will engage diplomatically with the remaining signatories of the treaty. Clearly Iran wants to maintain its economic ties with the world's major powers so that it does not have to be again isolated from the world economy due to US sanctions in the future.
After withdrawing from the agreement, if America imposes economic sanctions on Iran in future, then America and other countries including India having close trade relations
