The British got their first kothi in Bengal made in 1651 at Hooghly and got trade concessions.

After the death of Alivardi Khan in 1756, Siraj-ud-daula became the Nawab.
Clive conspired with the Nawab's opponents and defeated and killed him in the Battle of Plassey in 1757.
After the Battle of Plassey, Mir Jafar became the Nawab of Bengal in 1757.
The excessive demand for money made by the British was not met.He had to leave his post in 1760 due to being unable to do so.

By the Treaty of Allahabad in 1765, the British got the Diwani of Bihar, Bengal and Orissa legally from the Mughal Emperor.

The Regulating Act was passed in 1773 due to the discrepancies created bythe Dyarchy and the Dyarchy came to an end. Warren Hastings became the first Governor General of Bengal.
