Rohingya problem
India illegal since independence Woe facing the crisis of infiltration of migrants.
The infiltration of first Tibetans then Bangladesh is and more recently Rohingya migrants is creating various problems for the government. India has the following dilemmas in the matter of Rohingya crisis
India-Myanmar Relations At present, India-Myanmar relations have become warm and friendly and India is refraining from pressurising Myanmar over the Rohingya issue as increasing pressure on Myanmar will increase its inclination towards China. It is worth mentioning that huge economic investment has been made by China in Rakhine province and China is also developing sea port in this province. Also, China is opposed to the internationalisation of the Rohingya problem. India-Bangladesh Relations A large number of Rohingya refugees have come to Bangladesh from Myanmar and India is being pressurized by Bangladesh to request India to take back the refugees by pressuring Myanmar.
Given the current India-Myanmar relations,it is not possible for India to fully support Bangladesh's demand. However, humanitarian aid was sent to Bangladesh by India for the refugees who came to Bangladesh.
Human rights issues and security issues etc According to human rights activists, Rohingya refugees need to be given asylum in India. India isa super power, so it should follow the obligations related to human rights. Whereas, quoting the report of India's intelligence agencies, it is being said that the relations of the people of Rohingya Pray community exist with many terrorist groups operating in Pakistan and also with ISIS. In such a situation, it would not be a wise move for India to protect human rights by putting its national security at risk.
conclusion For India, the problems of neighboring countries become internal problems of foreign policy. Therefore, the issue of refugees is a challenge to internal security on the one hand and on the other hand itis also an important topic related to human rights. Therefore,at present there is a need to make a concrete law in India regarding refugees and it should not be seen as party interests.
