Relationship Between India And Afghanistan
It is necessary for India to build a democratic and liberal political system in Afghanistan with minimum interference from Pakistan-backed radical groups, so that terrorists who carryout terrorist activities in India by taking training from Afghanistan can be stopped.
Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed between India and Afghanistan in the year 2011 to help in there construction of Afghanistan as well as to monitor and stop the anti-India activities being conducted by Pakistan in Afghanistan.
Under this agreement, India is providing assistance in the field of education and technical assistance to Afghanistan in the reconstruction of infrastructure and institutions.
In addition, Afghanistan's products are being exported by India to the Indian markets.Duty free access is also being provided.
Comprehensive development assistance program of about US$ 2 billion conducted by India in the reconstruction and resettlement of Afghanistan are being done.India believes that building a stable Afghanistan requires long-term investment in Afghanistan by global powers.Keeping this in mind, India has constructed Parliament House in Afghanistan, Zaranj-Delaram road, Salma Dam etc.
India has also announced major investment in Hajigak iron ore field of Afghanistan. Along with this, India is also working to train the military forces of Afghanistan. Every year 1000 students from Afghanistan are provided scholarships by India to study in Indian universities.
